Is a College Degree Worth It?:  New Economy, New Skills

Presenter:

Jeffrey Sachse is the Regional Economist for the seventeen counties of Northeast Wisconsin in the Office of Economic Advisors at the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, a position that he has held since 2009.  In this position, Mr. Sachse is responsible for the preparation, analysis, and dissemination of a variety of demographic, economic, and labor market indicators, including the monthly unemployment rate, industry and occupational employment, and employment projections.  He routinely interacts with elected officials, members of the local media, and the general public in informing them of economic trends.  He has also served in a similar position in Southeast Wisconsin, and has fifteen years of experience in economic and workforce development.  Mr. Sachse holds degrees in Political Science and Economics from Marquette University, the University of Wisconsin -- Madison, and the University of Wisconsin -- Milwaukee.  In addition to his work with DWD, Mr. Sachse is also a member of the faculty in the Center for New Learning at UW-Oshkosh and is a research associate for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
